My girlfriend and I are in DC for a few days but would like to take one night and enjoy the nightlife DC has to offer. Any suggestions on a particular bar or club to go to? We are in our mid 20%26#39;s, enjoy casual bar experiences with pool tables, good music, and a relaxing atmosphere. We are not looking for a dance club but a nice ';upscale'; bar maybe with live music (jazz or piano) and good drinks. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance for your time and help!
Which bar, club?
We had a fun evening at Temperance Hall in Petworth/Columbia Heights, but it%26#39;s got only 1 pool table and is probably too far out of the way for most visitors. So, I%26#39;m going to propose Buffalo Billliards in Dupont Circle

It isn%26#39;t, however, a jazz club or piano bar; if you%26#39;re leaning more towards that, here are roundups of the most popular of those possibilities:

Another suggestion: ask your question of the Going Out Gurus at the Washington Post. They conduct a live ';chat'; known as ';Got Plans?'; at 1 PM on Thursdays, but you need not be at a computer then -- you can submit your question ahead of time. For more info, see this page; you might also enjoy simply scrolling through their blog and transcripts of past ';Got Plans?'; for ideas

Which bar, club?
I am 25 and have lived here 4 years. 18th Street NW in the Adams Morgan neighborhood is very lively on weekend nights. Almost crazy. There are bars and clubs all up and down. Madams Organ has live music. For pool, Buffalo Billards in Dupont Circle has maybe 25 pool tables - very large - no live music though. My favorite piano bar is Mr. Smith%26#39;s in Georgetown on M Street NW - gets pretty crowded though.
My suggestion is Adams Morgan neighborhood. Gets pretty wild but you%26#39;ll have a lot of fun. Be sure to stay past closing (after 3am) for late night Jumbo Slices (pizza) on the sidewalk.
Buffalo Billiards is the best bet for pool (if you can%26#39;t tell already). If you head to Adams Morgan, try Angles instead.
For something more unique - go to U Street. Some of the places to check out:
Cue Bar for pool
Bohemian Caverns (jazz on the lower level)
Twins Jazz
Cafe Nema
Bar Pilar and Cafe Saint Ex are also hotspots on 14th Street, just south of U.
Have fun!
