Drivin' to OC this weekend

Departure times are flexible. Any vetran DC to OC drivers out there have any suggestions to avoid traffic? Out Friday Late or Sat AM, back Sunday afternoon, Sunday night, or Monday early AM? Thoughts?

Great name Coach K. LOL.

Sorry , I don%26#39;t have a lot of great advice other than go at odd times and pack your patience.

Honestly, I just had to comment as your name really made me laugh.

The earlier the better. If you go late, go real late, like after 9pm or real early on sat like 6am. Holiday weekend so coming back sunday or Monday shouldn%26#39;t be much of a big deal because people tend to spread out their departure times.

Labor Day weekend is pretty unpredictable. Lots of people take off from work early on Friday, so maybe later would be better--after 8. Coming back, maybe around 10 am Monday would be a good time. There will be a few people coming back on Sunday, but more will probably wait until Monday later in the afternoon. But really you%26#39;re just trying to out-think a million other people looking for the least traffic, so it could be bad almost any time. Pack plenty of patience.

First time in a limo, DOCTOR Galacewicz?

So true, Thad! You can%26#39;t outsmart all the other drivers because there are bound to be some who think like yourself! I%26#39;ve left at 11 pm on a Friday night and hit traffic on the bridge and all the way down Route 50. I%26#39;ve also left early on Saturday morning and hit traffic. I%26#39;ve even tried leaving on a Thursday and still found traffic. On the other hand, I%26#39;ve left at 6 pm on Friday afternoon and found no traffic at all!

However, leaving at 10 am on Monday seems to avoid jams. People tend to make the most of their long weekend, and traffic is backed up on Monday from noon %26#39;til midnight. And sometimes later for those who took the Gov%26#39;s advice to ';go early, stay late.';

There%26#39;s no predicting traffic patterns - much depends on weather, which might be bad this weekend thanks to Ernesto. Just be prepared to encounter traffic (pack a cooler and keep your favorite CDs closeby), and be grateful when there isn%26#39;t!!!

Labor Day Weekend. I would leave after 9pm on Friday or leave at least before 5am on Saturday morning.

Coming back I would leave Monday morning really doesn%26#39;t matter the time because most people will probably stay an extra day. And the traffic coming back is never as bad as going over.
