A friend of mine is having a hard time deciding between two hotels. I told her I would ask all of you because you have given me good advice in the past. Her and her boyfriend are going (both in mid 20%26#39;s) and they are trying to decide between two marriot hotels. The Marriot Renaissance and the Renaissance Mayflower. She is concerned about the location of both in regard to their proximity to the major sites and the overall safety of the locations. She also wants to make sure neither one is a dump. Which one is better? Any help you could provide would be really appreciated. Thank you in advance!
HELP! Renaissance Mayflower vs Renaissance Washington DCWell the Mayflower is more of an older-themed hotel very nice and clean you can%26#39;t go wrong, it%26#39;s in a historic building. Yet the Renaissance DC is more modern-like and newer.
Both to me are in good locations. The Renaissance DC is in the Penn Quarter area of DC. Close to almost everything you need. Metro stations are right there as well. Chinatown, downtown, all there.
Mayflower feels a little more ';BUSINESS';. It%26#39;s on Connecticut Avenue with all of the businesses, government officials, etc. But it%26#39;s near the White House, The Mall, probably not as good at night for dining options, and other things but both are safe at night. About 3 metro stations within a few minutes of a walk so you could just hop on metro and get everywhere you needed to go.
Probably would go with the Renaissance DC for them. Neither are ';DUMPS'; believe you me. Mayflower rooms may be bigger I think than the other location.
HELP! Renaissance Mayflower vs Renaissance Washington DCEither one is fine. For their age, I%26#39;d probably go with the Renaissance near the Convention Center (rather than the Mayflower). It%26#39;s sort of a convention hotel since it%26#39;s large and near the CC, but it%26#39;s very conveniently located to lots of nightlife around Chinatown/Penn Quarter with many dining options (Zaytinya, Jaleo, Matchbox are at the top of my list). It%26#39;s a long walk to the National Mall, but certainly doable. Besides the metro, there%26#39;s also the DC Circulator bus that runs nearby which would be convenient for them.
Thank you for all of your input..I am going to pass it all along to her and hopefully she can make her final decision.
