hi all,
braxton hotel or Harrington Hotel
which one do you recommend me?
waiting to your replays...
thank you so much
rodrigo
which one is better?
Definitely HOTEL HARRINGTON.
Neither are really that great but Harrington is better. Both have small rooms and not as accommodating as say an Embassy Suites or Holiday Inn would be or any of the 3-4Star hotels. But I would say you would be happier with Harrington.
There are other reasonably priced hotels in Downtown that would be even better and bigger/cleaner rooms. What are your dates for arrival and departure and your budget p/night, I will see what I can find.
which one is better?
I wouldn%26#39;t stay at either place--but that%26#39;s me.
I too think the Harrington is better than the Braxton, but have you considered the Red Roof Inn near the Convention Center %26amp; Chinatown? Not expensive, It has received some very positive comments on this Forum; rooms have electronic door locks/key cards %26amp; a safe for your valuables; and there is a small fitness/workout room %26amp; sauna, plus laundry facilities so you could leave town with clean clothes in your suitcase :-)

I was alos looking into Harrington but am a bit apprehensive after reading the posts. Specifically, I was looking to stay from Sunday sept. 17 through the 20th. I have been trying through priceline but have nothing under 110.00. Mrs. Maryland, if you can find any place that would not be too much of a distance problem for those dates, please let me know. I know it is short notice but that it was kind of a last minute trip. Thanks
If you are looking for a hotel in that price range, you will have to stay outside of DC in order to get a decent place. Looking through Expedia, there are some in your price range that are in good areas:
In MD:
Sleep Inn-Rockville (2 diamonds) $75/night--free shuttle to the Shady Grove Metro station
Comfort Inn-Shady Grove (3 diamonds) 1st night-$79, other nights-$84
Red Roof Inn-Rockville (2 diamonds) 1st night-$74, other nights-$90. Transportation to Metro
In VA:
Comfort Inn-Alexandria (2 diamonds) $95/night--free shuttle to the Van Dorn Metro station
Best Western Springfield (2 diamonds) 1st night-$73, other nights-$84. free shuttle to the Springfield Metro station
Obviously, this is not ideal but doable. To be honest, if you see anything in the District in your price range it should raise a red flag. It is either in a bad area or is a fleabag dump. If you want to stay in the District, you are going to have to pay more.
Thanks for the info. I was actually looking at the Comfort Inn at Shady Grove. I looked into the Harrington for 115.00 a night but have not still decided which to choose. I am sure it is not as good as the Comfort Inn but is it worth the extra amount for the convenience of being in the middle of lots of things?
It%26#39;s up to you. Personally, I wouldn%26#39;t stay in the Harrington. I would rather stay in a decent hotel outside DC than stay in a bad one in the city. But that%26#39;s me. I do know that staying in a bad hotel can ruin what is otherwise a nice vacation. So it comes down to what you can put up with. I know people say ';but you%26#39;re only there to sleep';--perhaps, but I know I want a safe, clean and secure hotel. Whatever you decide to do, enjoy your stay!
Would you%26#39;d also consider a B%26amp;B/guesthouse rather than a hotel? If so, take a look at the reviews here; several of them (e.g., Woodley Park Guesthouse, Adams Inn) are within your price range and offer more convivial lodgings in more interesting, lively neighborhoods than a ';cookie cutter'; chain hotel in suburbia:
