annapolis

We will be going to annapolis on the second weekend in sept from DC and are wondering a good mode of transportation. Going from Omni Shoreham to Sheriton. Any other thoughts on annapolis welcomed. Our only plans at the moment are to visit the naval academy.

thanks

I suggest renting a car. It%26#39;s about a 35-40 minute drive from downtown DC straight up Rt. 50. The area is so spread, although Downtown Annapolis, you could walk all over the place. But then you would need to drive to the Naval Academy just a few minutes away.

You could see the state capital building. You could go to the waterfront area. It%26#39;s pretty nice. Lots of little quaint shops and restaurants on the main street there in downtown. Just park the car and walk around.

I very rarely see traffic on 50 unless there is a holiday or accident on the bay bridge.

Hope this is of assistance.

I%26#39;d second MsMD%26#39;s recommendations - just be aware that security restrictions may be in place at the Academy. It%26#39;s not like it was before 9/11, when you could walk in and spend hours in the Nimitz Library or Bancroft Hall and nobody seemed to mind. Check their website before you leave.
