National Aquarium?

We are going to visit DC for the first time and only have a few days. My husband wants to visit the National Aquarium -- is it worth our time?

Thanks in advance!

National Aquarium?

Are you referring to the one in Baltimore or the one in DC? I haven%26#39;t been to the DC one but posters who have been say it%26#39;s not worth the time or the money. However, if you are referring to the Baltimore one--IMO, it is worth a visit--especially if you%26#39;re planning a day in Baltimore. There is shopping and plenty of restaurants in the Inner Harbor area and Little Italy is a short walk away. However, if you have a long list of things you want to do and see while in DC, it might not be worth it to go to the aquarium. So--it%26#39;s up to you.

National Aquarium?

Thanks SueFee! I was reading my husband a list of things to see in DC and we were both surprised to see the National Aquarium. We had not heard of it before and since it%26#39;s the ';National Aquarium'; thought it must be great. I searched and found one other negative post about it elsewhere on the internet, but wanted to get some more opinions. With only a few days and so much to see, I think we%26#39;ll pass.

Thanks again.

You%26#39;re welcome--enjoy your stay!

The National Aquarium (in DC) is not really worth much of a visit. It%26#39;s been there for years, long before the ';National Aquarium in Baltimore'; opened. At least it%26#39;s only $5 to get in, but in all honesty I would skip it unless you%26#39;ve totally exhausted all your other sightseeing optjons in town.

Thanks for your input IrishFan. As I told my husband, we could always go to the Monterey Aquarium, which is much closer to us, but there are some things that we will only be able to see in DC.

It%26#39;s somewhere between the Steinhardt Aquarium in Golden Gate Park, and a neighborhood fish store. Given your limited time here, you might be better off seeing other more unique sites. Unless, of course, your husband is a serious fish lover, in which case, you should dine at Dante%26#39;s Sea Catch in Georgetown! ;-)

Good one drwong!

Nevada, if you%26#39;ve been to the Monterey aquarium, definitely skip the DC one. It%26#39;s in the basement of the Dept of Commerce, and the displays are ancient. The fish and creatures seem so lethargic - the poor alligaters barely move and the fish swim only enough to get some water over their gills. Very sad.

Thanks kbean, the n.a. sounds like a real downer! Thanks to everyone for their input.
