We%26#39;ll be in DC in a couple of weeks from Wed pm to Sat am and don%26#39;t know where to begin-- other than the traditional tourist route. Most interested in great restaurants and areas to walk around during the day and again at night. No shopping but good food is high on the list. The only place I%26#39;m sure I want to go is Jazz at the Smithsonian... any other ideas?

One of my favorite resources when I%26#39;m coming into town is Culttural Tourism - DC%26#39;s website --- especially the Events Calendar and the Tours %26amp; Trails sections which includes some off-beat tours and itineraries for self-guided walking tours; the Insider%26#39;s Insight itinerary for a DIY tour of the Dupont-Kalorama neighborhood is especially good

I did see the Hidden Gems thread, thanks. What I%26#39;m looking for is something more up to the minute like your reference to the cultural tourism site-- thanks even more. That%26#39;ll be a great start.
