Couldn%26#39;t find anything that specifically meet your request. BUT.

We go to the Japaneese Steak House in Old Town Alexandria when we have an outing with kids. It is one of those places where you sit around a grill and the chef comes out to prepare your food. Only once did someone have a bad reaction, but they were only 3 and didn%26#39;t like when the huge flames came up.

Your 13-year-old son will love it though. What boy doesn%26#39;t like fire?

Search washingtonpost.com or washingtonian.com for something similar that might be closer to where you are.

That being said, I am sure most nice restaurants could come up with something and pour a little brandy over it and light it at the table. What waiter would balk at the chance to light your food on fire?

Hope that helps

I seem to remember Rachel Ray getting some kind of flaming concoction served at the Sky Terrace at the Hotel Washington. It was on one of her old ';$40 a day'; shows. MIght be worth giving them a call when you%26#39;re in town.

I%26#39;d check www.opentable.com.

You can see the menus from various restaurants and get an idea of whether or not they offer this kind of dessert/service.

My husband and I went to the Oceannaire Seafood room for our anniversay in December and had a FABULOUS baked alaska. The service there is excellent and the food is superb. A word to the wise, the portions are HUGE! Anything you order (appetizers, entrees, desserts) will easily feed 2 or 3 people.

RE: IRISHFAN: It was a Flamming Bananas Foster (Banana Flambe) with a beautiful sky terrace view of the mall area. They prepare the dessert right at your table.

Irishfan

I have the $40 a day book and what she says in the book is that the flaming dessert at the Hotel Washington was not actually available in the Sky Terrace. You have to order it in the regular restaurant, but for the show they let her have it on the Terrace.

I went there last year for drinks and asked about it and they said they won%26#39;t do it (apparently EVERYBODY asks for it since the show).

But, it%26#39;s possible to just go to the restaurant for dessert and not get a full meal if you don%26#39;t want to do that.

Thanks to all for the info. Has anyone been to Les Halles? It appears that they have some tableside desserts. Th eprices seem pretty good as well. Any comments?
