Got last minute package to DC.
Need advice to spend 12/25 where most places are closed and best DC brunches are fully booked.
Had signed up for trolley tours on other days.
What to do in DC on Christmas Day
Just about everything will be closed. As to brunch, I%26#39;ve found that some places don%26#39;t advertise until it%26#39;s closer to Christmas day, so don%26#39;t give up just yet. For example, there are some Holiday Inns that offer holiday buffet brunches at their restaraunts.

Not sure how much help, but it may have some info on Christmas day events and brunches.
Here are some possibilities for Christmas day meals:
Holiday Inn-Rosslyn--The Vantage Point ';overlooking Washington, DC';--Christmas Buffet 11 a.m - 8 p.m. adults $22.95, children 12 and under $11.95. You can get there by using Metro (Rosslyn on the blue or orange line) and the restaurant is now taking reservations.
Legal Seafood in Crystal City is open on Christmas day. Again--easy to get to from the Crystal City Metro station. (Not all Legal Seafood restaurants are open on Christmas day--this one is though.) For more info: www.legalseafoods.com
McCormick and Schmick%26#39;s is open, too. They have 2 locations in the District. For more info: www.mccormickandschmicks.com
M %26amp; S Grill has 1 location in the District. For more info: www.mandsgrill.com
And don%26#39;t forget that the outdoor stuff like memorials are always open--about the only thing you won%26#39;t be able to do is go to the top of the Washington Monument. And you will need to self-guide yourself through them.
Bump for someone asked the same question.
Mount Vernon, George Washington%26#39;s home, is open on Christmas Day.
Bumped for Readaloud
The Holiday Inn Old Town Alexandria does holiday brunches that are outstanding. I have been their on Christmas Day and you will not be alone (Sylvester Stallone%26#39;s mother was there the day I had Christmas brunch here!)

While most things in Alexandria will be closed, Christ Church will be open and is beautiful to walk around the grounds. The waterfront is nice to walk around and to look in the shop windows. Hopefully, it will be a pleasant enough day for walking around.
You may always want to consider movies, as well as the monuments. Walking around Georgetown, and eating Chinese food. The Jewish Community Center usuallly hosts some type of movie or other event on Christmas day.
