Hi Chirpy:

You%26#39;ll probably want to look at the attractions page and narrow down what is of interest. The main attractions are pretty much the White House, the Capitol, the monuments and the Smithsonian Musuems. There%26#39;s so much more, but in 2 days, I don%26#39;t think you%26#39;ll be able to fit in much more if you want to eat and sleep too! It%26#39;s probably too late to get a tour of the WH or the Capitol (unless you want to wait in line one morning very early at the Capitol), but you can walk by them at least.

Consider taking a one of the tour buses (Old Town Trolley or Tourmobile are the big ones) if it%26#39;s in your budget. You can get on and off and they hit all the major sites.

Enjoy your stay!

If you like to walk, take a walk along the Mall to see the monuments and memorials. As for the Smithsonians--check out their website--www.si.edu--to see which ones interest you. And I agree--do look into either the Tourmobile (http://www.tourmobile.com/) or the Old Town Trolley (http://www.historictours.com/washington/).

Ditto the Tourmobile suggestion. I%26#39;ve had out of town guests all summer long and I%26#39;ve sent every one of them to the Tourmobile on their first day. Gave them a great overview of the city and helped them plan where they really wanted to spend time for the rest of the trip.
