35th birthday in DC

I will be celebrating my BD in DC with my sweetheart on Sept 4th (next Monday). I would really like to try a nice and trendy restaurant with a great atmosphere...wanted to go to Komi but it is closed for the month. Any other recommendation for this special celebration? Merci beaucoup!

35th birthday in DC

If you like Indian, a new place called Rasika is possibly the hottest place in town right now.

There%26#39;s a Middle-Eastern place called Zaytinya that%26#39;s a few years old but very popular (I%26#39;m not a huge fan personally, but that%26#39;s partly because it%26#39;s noisy. For a celebration it might be a better fit).

And Blue Duck Tavern is very new and getting a lot of attention.

Rasika sounds great, Thanks!

What Type of cuisine were you looking for?

Sophia:

Rasika is a very good choice. We ate there recently and thought the food was very good. It also has a nice atmosphere in a fun part of town. If you%26#39;re so inclined, have a drink at Poste first (in the Hotel Monaco). They have a popular happy hour (not sure how hopping it will be on a holiday weekend, though) with outdoor seating in an atrium. Have a happy birthday (guess you%26#39;ll have to change your name to Sophia35 now)!

-Olives (www.toddenglish.com) Italian, very cozy and wonderful service. Valet parking if driving, and metro accessible (Faragut North) Great downtown location.

-Tabaq Bistro (www.tabaqdc.com) Middle Eastern cuisine.

1336 U Street, NW. U street/Cardoza metro station. Very romantic and good food and great service. Valet Parking as well.

-Zaytinya as already mentioned is wonderful.

-La Chaumiere in Georgetown www.lachaumieredc.com (French food, probably have enough of that at home so you are probably looking for something different.)

-Bombay Club (www.bombayclubdc.com) Indian Food. Downtown location (Faragut West ???) check with them to verify. Pretty nice romantic spot.

Thank you very much to all of you for your suggestions- I%26#39;ll let you know where I celebrated my BD when I will return!

I have to also second the idea of Blue Duck Tavern. I haven%26#39;t been there yet, but it%26#39;s on our list. It sounds very good and seems like a great ';American'; food experience. It was recently reviewed in the Washington Post -

Thanks...but almost everything is close on Sunday %26amp; Monday.... :-(

You may want to venture out into the Northern VA or Chevy Chase area for a nice romantic dinner.

-Centro Italian Grill. www.centroitalian.com is in downtown Bethesda, metro accessible. Lovely Italian food. Nice wine list. Very quaint and very romantic for 2. May be a little out of your way however. Very trendy looking they play nice soft jazzy type music and the service is excellent. Might be a little out of your way to get to but I like it.

-You could do Ruth Chris in Crystal City. The view is gorgeous at this location. There are other locations in DC but I think I like this one the best. Might be a little too expensive however.

Gosh, I hadn%26#39;t thought of that!

Here are a couple other places with innovative food that might work for you:

Notti Bianche (824 New Hampshire Ave. NW, 202-298-8085 - Foggy Bottom)

Restaurant Eve (110 S. Pitt St., Alexandria, VA 703-706-0450) - Should be open on Monday unless they%26#39;re closed for the holiday. The problem is it%26#39;s in Old Town Alexandria so it%26#39;s not too convenient for you. (Accessible by metro, then maybe a taxi to the restaurant - otherwise it%26#39;s quite a long walk.) But the food is really amazing. Try to eat in the bistro, it%26#39;s less pricey (but still pricey!), but equally good quality. Old Town is quaint. If you make it there, you could go on the early side and check out the Torpedo Factory (if it%26#39;s open) or take a walk along the river.

Sea Catch (1054 31st St. NW, 202-337-8855 - Georgetown) - Probably not the innovative food you%26#39;re looking for, but it has gotten good reviews from other posters and it%26#39;s a nice atmosphere.

Bistro Bis (15 E St. NW, 202-661-2700 - near Union Station) - again, more traditional food, but very good and a nice dining room

I hope you find something that works for you!
