this whole baltimore to d.c. thing

I%26#39;m still unsure about how this whole shuttle thing between the airport and d.c. work. The package we want to get involves flying into Baltimore, flying out of DCA. We will stay at the Hyatt Capitol Hill, which is pretty close to Union Station from what I understand. If we come in on a Sunday,we take a shuttle to the train station and then catch a train? Is this going to be a real pain? Also, have read mixed reviews on the Hyatt%26#39;s neighborhood as far as crime and the fact that there is a fire station nearby. First time to Washington.Doing the whole tourist thing. Any suggestions are appreciated!

Yes, there is a shuttle that takes you from the terminal at BWI to the train station. However, on Sunday you will have to take Amtrak. If you do take Amtrak, be sure to buy your tickets in advance in order to guarantee a spot on the train you want to take. For more info--www.amtrak.com --and for BWI info--www.bwiairport.com All this shouldn%26#39;t be a pain as long as you plan accordingly. As for suggestions--be sure to take a walk along the Mall and see the monuments and memorials. Also, take in a Smithsonian museum or two (www.si.edu).

ok, thanks for the info. Actually,we%26#39;ll fly in on a Saturday, not a Sunday. Also, is it safe to walk to dinner after dark? I know there aren%26#39;t many restaurants around our hotel but I read that you can find restaurants a couple of blocks away at union station.

You%26#39;re welcome. You should have no problems going out in the evening. BTW, there are restaurants right in Union Station. For more info--www.unionstationdc.com

An alternative to Amtrak (which is a lot more expensive than the weekday-only MARC commuter train) is Metrorail. You can take the B30 bus from BWI to Greenbelt, hop onto the Metro and transfer at Fort Totten to the Red Line and jump off at Union Station. There are wheelchair lifts, ramps, and elevators all along the way, which makes it great for those travelling with rolling suitcases. If you have regular suitcases, or a lot of them, you might be better off hiring a cab or sharing a shuttle.
