Does anyone know where is located a water level marker around the D.C area south . maybe a pillar ? maybe old historic flood marker? where flooding took place--- a high water mark?
Water Level marker? Pillar?
Old Town Alexandria, corner of King and Union Streets.
Water Level marker? Pillar?
I seem to remember reading that there is a flood marker on the side of the Torpedo Factory (now an arts complex) in the DC suburb of Alexandria, VA
There is also a high water/flood pole by Overlook #3 in Great Falls Park by McClean, VA -- and the National Park Service Rangers occasionally offer a walk/talk program devoted to it. There%26#39;s a photo of it on this page:

Here%26#39;s the Visitor FAQ page from the Park%26#39;s website:

It%26#39;s great place to hike, and a nice place to visit even if you don%26#39;t take advantage of all the trails :-)
Do you mean the stain about a third of the way up the Washington Monument isn%26#39;t a high-water mark???
