booking hotels using hotwire? help
does anyone had any good or bad experience with hotwire???
Not with Hotwire. But I had a mixed experience with Priceline (bidding). Booked 2 different hotels in Orlando. At 1 (Hilton at Disney) we were treated basically like any other customer, very good experience. At the other (Gaylord Palms) we were made to feel second rate because we bid through Priceline. Our rooms had ants all over them (my ds and I are allergic), it took them almost 3 hours to move us. They assigned us new rooms right after we called and reported the ants, but then called back and said they were going to have to change our new rooms and they would call us back. (They couldn%26#39;t put us in a reg room, it had to be one of the rooms set aside for the ';discount'; clientel). The morning manager however was wonderful the next day when I told him what happened, he apologized and even gave us a $100 gift card for the restaurant.
So I am left with mixed feelings on booking with Priceline again (this was our 1st try). Others may have a better experience.
thank you. last night a booked a hotel through priceline%26#39;s Name your own price... after almost 5-7 bids (all rejected) I got 6 nights $70/night at the Washington Court Hotel, on january 5-11...
thanks for all the help
$70.00 p/night at the Washington Court is a GREAT deal. This hotel is nice. You shouldn%26#39;t be disappointed. It is very clean. The majority of the people who stay there however are there on business. Not bad but you might not feel the ';family friendly'; atmosphere as others hotels but if you are alone even better.
They have a nice restaurant Bistro 525 that%26#39;s there. The location is good. It%26#39;s near Union Station Metro Station (Red Line) about a 7 minute walk to be exact. There are lots of restaurants in the area. I probably wouldn%26#39;t walk to the mall area where the monuments and museums are but it%26#39;s a quick metro ride (although you will have to transfer to another line orange/blue line at Metro Center). This is just down the street from Capitol Hill (still in the Capitol Hill district) but down from the actual Capitol Building. You could walk to the capital building area.
Hope this helps.
Also,
Just make sure you have all of your confirmation numbers printed out and your receipts from your credit card. Also, sometime in November or December, you might want to call the hotel just to verify that they have your reservation and the price that HotWire gave you. These online sites (Expedia, Travelocity, and all) sometimes have mix-ups when you arrive to your hotel. But if it%26#39;s quoted and paid for and you have copies of receipts, HotWire will handle the problem.
thank you so much for all your help. this was my first time using Priceline, so, now I know... thank you!!
I used hotwire for my trip last July. We were there July 4-11. I was able to get a 3 1/2 * hotel in Alexandria which turned out to be the Hilton Alexandria Mark. My reservation was fine and other than the hotel being busy no problems checking in. Definatly check betterbidding.com to get an idea about the hotel. Good luck.
Not knowing the precise location of your hotel when blind bidding might be a problem in VA, but not in DC, where every hotel seems to be within a few blocks of a Metro station. The major complaint I%26#39;ve heard about the Hilton Alexandria Mark Center is its remote location. True, they do have a shuttle, but you have to call the hotel from the National Airport Metro station and wait 15-20 minutes for it to arrive, and then ride the same amount of time back to hotel, making it somewhat inconvenient, especially if you don%26#39;t have free minutes on your cell phone!
