Hi all,
I typically get to DC once a year (and lived there when I went to college at CUA back in the late 80%26#39;s), but I need some advice. We are coming to DC (potentially 6 women, early-mid 30%26#39;s) for President%26#39;s Weekend in Feb (Sat and Sun nights, returning Monday.) I have already booked our hotel - Ritz Carlton in Pentagon City (gotta love their club level) - and we also really enjoy its location - we are all shoppers and also like the convenience of the Metro right there at Fashion Centre.
My question is about nightlife. I need some new options for my girls. We have done the Kelly%26#39;s Times/Dubliner before, we have done probably every bar in Georgetown. I have only ever been to Adams Morgan to eat dinner - what bars exist there that are fun? We want to have a great time and like a lively atmosphere. How about U street? Or Dupont? Also, are they any piano bars (the fun kind, where you can sing along?) in DC? I am in charge of the trip and am looking for new venues. Any other good Irish bars besides the Times and the Dubliner?
I also would love some recommendations regarding restaurants. Something trendy with good food would be great. Price not an issue. Tapas, perhaps?
Thanks in advance for all your help (and if you ever come to Philly, I%26#39;m happy to give advice on that end!)

Girls weekend in DC, advice re: nightlife, restaurants
I%26#39;m sensing an Irish theme here lol...
I%26#39;m not a fan of Adams-Morgan for nightlife these days. Even though I am definitely out of the age range, I think your group is as well (No offense meant! It%26#39;s just really more of a frat scene for the 21-25 year old crowd thing there these days with too many media stories of occasional violence happening for me to recommend it on a weekend for a girls night out)
Have a night out in Cleveland Park. Maybe it%26#39;s an area you haven%26#39;t explored, or at least lately. There are a number of good restaurants in the beighborhood, two decent irish pubs (Nanny O%26#39;Briens and Ireland%26#39;s Four Green Fields) and it%26#39;s on the Metro.
If you%26#39;re not having a good time there it%26#39;s two Metro stops to Dupont Circle, Jury%26#39;s Hotel there has an Irish bar the name of which is escaping me at the moment. But the place gets a nice crowd of locals and I%26#39;ve always had a good time there.
(I realize you%26#39;re not asking ONLY for Irish places, but hey, I gotta go with what I know best lol)

Irishfan,
Thanks for the ideas regarding Cleveland Park - I will definitely check them out! I will also look up the name for the pub at Jurys.
And yes, you sensed correctly about an Irish theme (my hubby is from Dublin, I can never seem to escape it!)
And, no offense taken about being too old in a bar! There%26#39;s nothing worse than walking in somewhere and you are - obviously - the oldest one in there among a sea of 21 year olds. That has happened at the Times to me on occasion - when those raucous CUA students decide to travel a few stops up on the Metro for a night out! (Back in my day, the drinking age was switching over from 18 to 21, so it was 18 year olds back then!)
Thanks again --
Suzanne
Biddy Mulligans! At Jury%26#39;s, it just came into my feeble brain. :)
