Desperately seeking advise....

I`m traveling with my family, which includes a 10 %26amp; 12 yr old boys. Looking to stay in the Washington D.C area 4-8 - 4-9.

I`m considering staying at the Washington Marriott Wardman Park(Dupont Circle area) Is this area convenient to Mall area / Lincolns Memorial %26amp; is the area safe. IF not, other suggestions would be GREATLT APPRECIATED. Thanks

Not convenient so far as walking to the main attrations. But very convenient in that you can hop on the Metro (subway) right by the hotel or into a taxi and get wherever you need to be in no more than 10 minutes.

Taxi shouldn%26#39;t be all that much more expensive than using Metro and paying for each passenger.

The area around the Marriott is VERY safe.

Please note that although you could walk to the Dupont area from the Marriott Wardman Park, it is located in the Woodley Park neighborhood of DC (this will help you if you%26#39;re looking online for close by restaurants, etc. - and the metro would be Woodley Park, not Dupont). This is a fine place to stay if you can%26#39;t find anything closer to Mall that%26#39;s within your price range. (Normally I recommend staying within walking distance if at all possible for such a short stay.) In any case, it%26#39;s a safe area, a quick metro ride to the main sites and you%26#39;re walking distance to the National Zoo, which is free and might be fun for your kids.

A cab from the Wardman Park to the mall is pretty inexpensive (~10 bucks) and will take you a lot less time than metro. Tell the driver you want to take Rock Creek, and take it to the Lincoln Memorial.

Otherwise, it%26#39;s an extremely safe neighborhood and you can%26#39;t get much closer to the zoo and the metro.

Thank you to everyone that responded. It`s greatly appreciated.
