Evening Tour On 1st Night?

Hi there,

I will be arriving into Dulles Airport around 430pm %26amp; would like to make the most of my 1st night. Was thinking of doing a Segway tour but the tour departs at 6pm, so i doubt id be able to make it through immigration to my hotel (Madison) then onto the meeting point.

So my second choice would be the Monument by Moonlight tour. This departs at 7pm. Does this tour have to be booked beforehand or can i just show up %26amp; pay at the time? Just incase i am delayed etc.

Is there something else i could do instead? Is visiting Georgetown better at night than during the day?

Evening Tour On 1st Night?

If you are due to land at Dulles at 4:30 PM, you will be lucky to be in your hotel by 7. Immigration and customs will probably take an hour or more unless you are a US citizen. Then is is the better part of an hour into the city at that time of day on a workday.

If you are interested in restaurants, bars and shopping in Georgetown, then the evening can be nice. If you want to see the history and architecture of old Georgetown, then a single woman wandering about the quiet streets might not be the best idea.

I thought i was being a little optomistic about clearing immigration!

Oops, i forgot to mention my lovely boyfriend will be with me on holiday!

I think Georgetown may be the better option then. We can have dinner then go 2 a pub then stagger home!

You will need a cab or bus to get to Georgetown. There are several bars and restaurants on P Street between 14th and 15th and around the corner on 14th and that is only a couple of blocks from your hotel. Not nearly as extensive as Georgetown however.
