I am attending a conference near the Smithsonian stop on the Blue/Orange line. Can anyone recommend a place to stay near a Metro stop? I know the Metro fairly well, so I don%26#39;t mind changing lines to find a decent place to stay. Oh, and I need it to be under $200 a night.
Thanks!

Hotel prices vary by day of the week and time of the year. So you need to look up prices for yourself.
The Hampton Inn and Suites at Crystal City is close to the Blue Line and people seem to love it. The hotel closest to the Smithsonian is the L%26#39;Enfant Plaza Hotel. But after the offices close, there is very little to do or place to eat close-by. But really there are dozens of hotels near a Metro stop. All will not be under $200 a night though.

Hi FamilyFour, I see you%26#39;re fairly new to TA, welcome.
Here is the review page for Washington DC hotels. To use it effectively, first put your dates into the search box. Then click ';Advanced Search';. Then, on the page that comes up, look on the left-hand side of the page to refine your search by price, hotel star, etc. (Not by proximity to Metro, unfortunately)
Then scroll down the page and read the reviews.
Once you have narrowed it down to a few choices, then try coming back here and asking if anybody is familiar with a hotel or area it%26#39;s located in.
We recently stayed at the Legacy in Rockville (red line), but that may be too far out for you? One block from the Metro station (free hotel shuttle), and about 30-35 minutes to the Smithsonian stop, with change at Metro Center. As I understand from reading this forum, the hotels farther out are less expensive. Makes sense!
