hotel questions: dupont, alexandria, key bridge areas

We are putting together an early April trip and would appreciate thoughts about the comfort and convenience to D.C. museums and areas of special interest of three particular hotels: The Morrison House in Old Alexandria, the Key Bridge Marriot in, I believe, Rosslyn; and the Washington Hilton and Towers in the Dupont circle area. I know the reviews on T.A. are poor for the Hilton, but we stayed there three years ago and found it quite comfortable and convenient, hence wonder if it has really gone steeply downhill, or if our experience was a fluke. I, also, realize that the Morrison is likely not as convenient, but wonder if Old Alexandria itself, and the quality of the hotel, would be an offset. Thank you very much for any help.

The Washington Hilton has a new owner, though it is still a Hilton. It is also a major construction site. They are doing a big renovation and building a new condo building where the pool used to be.

Old Town Alexandria is quite a great place and has a lot of history, shopping and restaurants. But the Morrison House is a good walk from the Metro. There is a free shuttle along King Street, but that can be frustrating. The hotel, a Kimpton property, should be very nice.

The Key Bridge Marriott would be my choice of the three for a tourist in DC. A nice location, only a few blocks from a Metro stop or across the bridge into Georgetown.

I%26#39;ve stayed at the Hilton and thought it was just fine. It may be a little tired looking, but I had no issues at all. The proximity to Dupont is nice, though it can be a pain to trek back uphill (you may find it easier if you%26#39;re metroing to go to Woodley Park and walk downhill instead - it%26#39;s about the same distance).

Key Bridge Marriott can also look a little tired, but if you%26#39;re up for walking, it%26#39;s just across the bridge to Georgetown, or just a couple blocks to metro.

Morrison House is beautiful - if you want to spend a lot of time in Old Town, it%26#39;s great...but not very convenient for getting into the city. In my opinion, Old Town is nice for an afternoon of strolling, or maybe a night of drinks, but I wouldn%26#39;t choose it as my base.

Thanks Darrel and Monkey. I, also, have been seriously considering the Marriott near Key Bridge.
