We are staying at the Crystal City Marriott @ Reagan National Airport. Is this walking distance to restaurants? Can we walk to Fashion Center Mall or take Metro? How long of a Metro ride is it to Downtown DC - mall area? Is hotel in nice area? Is hotel in good condition? Any info would be appreciated. Thank you!
Crystal City Marriott at Reagan National - pro's and con's?
For the location, it is a fine choice. I have never been in a room, so I can%26#39;t tell you about that. The Fashion Center at Pentagon City is one Metro stop away, but you could walk it if you wanted to. The Metro ride to downtown is short. Without looking it up, about 15 minutes. Crystal City Marriott at Reagan National - pro's and con's?
Since I live in the city, I%26#39;ve never been in the rooms at the hotel - I suggest looking at the reviews on this site for more info. There are a number of restaurants on Crystal Drive and 23rd Street - about 5-10 minute walk from the hotel: http://crystalcity.com/Dine_Shop_Stay. The metro ride is quick 10-15 minutes depending on where on the mall you are going and which train you take (the yellow line is usually faster). As the previous poster mentioned, you can walk to Pentagon City or it%26#39;s also 1 metro stop or a short bus ride away.
CC Marriott is a good place to stay as a jumping off point for seeing DC.
Walking distance to restaurants -- oh my yes. See below for more info and some recs.
Yes, you can walk or take metro to Fashion Center.
Metro ride is 13 mins to Smithsonian and 9 minutes to L%26#39;Enfant Plaza (Air and Space and American Indian)

Hotel area is safe. It is a little quiet at night as this area has lots of office building. 23rd Street stays pretty happening.
Hotel is in good condition. I have only been in meeting rooms recently, but have seen the rooms a while ago.
There are 4 ';areas'; for dining in Crystal City/Pentagon City.
1. Crystal City Proper
crystalcity.com/Dine_Shop_Stay/Dine/Restaura…
This includes the Underground (most not open post 6pm and weekends) and Crystal Drive. Crystal Drive has undergone a nice transformation recently and has opened a bunch of great restaurants that are open on weekends and nights. Some include McCormick and Schmicks (seafood), Jaleo (Tapas), Baileys (Sports - good for kids), Ruth Chris (steak and overlooks National Airport), Charlie Changs (Chinese - good for kids), Legal Seafood (yup -- good guess - seafood). There are others, but these are the ones I can think off of the top of my head.
2. 23rd Street Crystal City
On 23rd Street in Crystal City there are a BUNCH of restaurants. This street is affectionately known as “Restaurant Row”. LOTS of ethnic restaurants. Some faves include Bonsai Grill (sushi – GREAT people), Crystal City Sports Pub (Sports Illustrated top 20 best sports bar, GREAT wings, good for kids believe it or not as there is a kids menu and the food is good but not too expensive), CafĂ© Italia (best of the three Italian restaurants). Tortoise and Hare has good food and half price burgers on Wednesday.
3. Pentagon City Mall/Centre
There is a great Mall in Pentagon City – just blocks from Crystal City. To give you some context, I live one block from Pentagon City Mall and 3 blocks from Crystal City – all EASY walks. The mall has typical mall food fare including a food court and a few sit down chain restaurants. Pentagon Centre Mall – across the street has a Mexican chain (cannot remember the name), Starbucks, and California Pizza Kitchen - all good for kids. In Pentagon City Mall there is a food court and a Johnny Rockets (50’s style hamburger place).

4. Pentagon Row

A relatively new area (past 3 years) is called Pentagon Row. This is on the other side of Pentagon City Mall. This is a favorite area of mine. In the winter they build an ice skating rink. Year round there are some GREAT restaurants. Faves include Asia Bistro (Japanese fusion and sushi), Lebanese Taverna (Lebanese), Sine (Irish – pronounced Sha Nay), Noodles (chain noodles etc), and Champps (Sports - good for kids)There are others that I just have not tried.
