I currently have a reservation at Embassy Suites at the convention center - will my family of 4 feel safe walking around at all hours - and is it within easy walking distance from the mall?

Depends on what you mean by ';all hours';. It%26#39;s a safe enough area but if you mean 2:00 in the morning or something it%26#39;s going to be a bit empty...

Yes, you can walk to the Mall. It%26#39;s uphill a bit on the way back, but if you%26#39;re in reasonably good shape it%26#39;s not a problem.

Also note ';the mall'; is almsot 2 miles long, so walking down 10th Street to the mall won%26#39;t be the same as walking all the way down to the Capitol building.
