Omni Shorham Location

Tell me about the location of the hotel and also, has anyone stayed there. Is it really a 4 star hotel. I know there is a Metro stop close by but will we fell isolated. I can get it for $109 through Travelzoo (for the days we are going) and I am tempted.

It is on the edge of Rock Creek Park. Otherwise, it%26#39;s a residential area with nice amenities--smaller shops and restaurants along the Connecticut Avenue strip.

You won%26#39;t be ';isolated,'; but other than the Zoo, you%26#39;ll need to hop on the Metro or into a taxi for a short ride to see any of the things tourists normally want to see.

Can%26#39;t speak to anything but the location, but plenty of reviews here on TA from those who%26#39;ve stayed.

It is a fine old convention hotel with a lot of rooms. It is located on the edge of Rock Creek Park with residential to the west and a nice commercial strip to the north, with a wide selection of restaurants. And if you do a search on this forum for ';omni'; you will find a dozen or more topics just in the last couple of weeks.

I called the daughter of a friend who lives in DC, because I was thinking of booking the Omni Shoreham. She said to definitely book it. She said that she lives in that area, and it is very, very nice and safe. She raved about how much she loves it. She works on Capital Hill, and said it easy to get there by taking the metrorail (you need to switch from one rail to the next). Said it was a quick ride to the typical toursit sited.

So, I booked it and I got a great rate! (Combination of the Omni%26#39;s Spring Forward promotion for weekdays - on their website - and the Travelzoo promo for our last day.)

I am really pleased with everything I have learned about the hotel and the location. Should be perfect for my family (2 kids, and apparently the Omni caters to children).
