Easter Sunday - help me choose

Hi,

I am finalizing...or more like starting....to put together our itinerary for DC over Easter break. This will be my husband%26#39;s first trip to DC. No kids..yet. He%26#39;s a History Channel sort of guy so I know whatever we do, he%26#39;ll LOVE!

So, here%26#39;s my question...I am trying to decide between these three options for Easter Sunday (all of which will start w/an early church service so we won%26#39;t be ready to ';start'; our tour day until about 10 AM).

1- Tour Ford%26#39;s Theater, get tickets for the play, CIVIL WAR, playing at Ford%26#39;s at 2:30 PM, early dinner, followed by a few hours at one of the later closing Smithsonians%26#39;.

2- A quieter day w/a nice brunch, followed by the mule/barge trip on the C%26amp;O, afternoon exploring the Rock Creek Park or Zoo.

3- Take the boat from Alexandria to Mt Vernon (or skip boat and take Metro), spend the day at Mt. Vernon.

Aside from scheduling the tour of Ford%26#39;s on another day, we won%26#39;t be squeezing the ';no-go%26#39;s'; into our schedule. So...is the play worth it? Mt. Vernon (I was there in HS), or quiet day in Georgetown?

Thanks so much!! I appreciate any response. I%26#39;ll probably also come back with a few itinary questions.

Thanks!

Easter Sunday - help me choose

Well, I cannot really help you choose. We have done everything just about that you have listed, except the Zoo. I would do the Ford%26#39;s Theater idea. That is unique and he loves history. I have not seen the play but that sounds nice! I am not sure the museums will be open however, much longer by the time you finish with your dinner. So be sure and check that out. I%26#39;d follow your dinner up with another idea. Most stores will be closed, so I can%26#39;t really suggest anything, maybe explore Rock Creek Park in the late afternoon? Have fun though!!

Based on your husband%26#39;s love of history and you wanting to do church first I would choose #1. I think that by the time you made it to Mt. Vernon (neither the boat or Metro is speedy) you might not get to see everything.
