Spy and Newseum--days to visit (crowds)

Want to visit both of these and will be in DC from a Thursday 3/19 till Tuesday. I am guessing weekends are busier so a weekday visit makes more sense for less crowding. Like most sites, I am also thinking earlier in the day, there would be fewer crowds.

Any insights on when to visit would be appreciated.

I haven%26#39;t been to the Newseum, so I can%26#39;t comment on that. However, I (a local) have been to the Spy Museum and can say that due to its popularity and the way it is laid out, it will be crowded at the time of your visit. You enter the museum in timed groups, so the biggest bottleneck is in the first few rooms, but it remains crowded throughout. I would definitely recommend booking the first tour of the day. You%26#39;ll still have that bottleneck in the beginning, but you could skim that area and head to a less crowded section of the museum if the group got too claustrophobic for you. (Note: You can go back to all but the first room, but it can be difficult ';swimming against the tide'; when the museum is full.)

I recommend buying your ticket in advance of your visit so you have a better choice of times and so that you can avoid the (often) long lines that form just to buy tickets.

Get there early and be prepared for school groups during the week.
