Hi,
My Girl Scout troop is coming to Washington in June. We will have 18 people. We want to stop at the all of the monuments and the Capitol Building. I%26#39;ve read about Tourmobile, but I don%26#39;t think it%26#39;s a good option for us because we are a large group. It would cause some chaos to split the group and not be able to catch up with each other as we probably wouldn%26#39;t get on the same bus each time. I just talked with DC OnBoard and they are not offering the 3-hour day tour of the monuments this year. They are still offering the night tour. I%26#39;ve looked at a limo company called Chariots for Hire. We could rent a 25-person shuttle bus for 3 hours for a reasonable cost (without a tour guide - but the girls could research the monuments themselves before we go.) Here are my questions: If you are seeing the monuments for the first time, is night-time a good time to go? Or should we do a day tour and just then view the Lincoln and Washington Monuments at night? Also, has anyone used Chariots for Hire? Do you have another suggestion for us? Thanks for your help.
Tour of monuments with a group
I have seen the buses around, so they must be doing something right.
As far as time, I would do day so that if you see a place that you really want to go into, you could. That being said, you only have three hours so that might not work.
The city is beautiful at night, most places stay lit up until 10-11 (can%26#39;t remember). We ride around in the miata with the top down and take in the monuments every now and then. Traffic is less hectic and the city seems more at peace then.
Hope that helps,
