Down to choice of hotels - can you help??

Hi,

My husband and I are coming to Washington for 2 days in December as an add on to our trip to New York. We will be arriving and departing via National Airport.

We are going to a couple of basketball games at the Verizon centre so our hotel must have good access to the Metro and we will need a neighbourhhood where we can grab a cheap and cheerful beer and a snack when we get back from the games. Days will be spent hitting the usual tourist sites.

I have narrowed our hotels down to :-

River Inn in Foggy Bottom

Hotel Madera in Dupont Circle

Hotel Washington

Of those, the River inn Is coming out the most expensive , followed by the Madera and then the Washington but the price difference is only 拢60 ($105) total between the most expensive and the least.

Which area whould you choose and what hotel? If you can reccommend a hotel not listed I am open to suggestions - we can spend up to $200 per night (including taxes).

Many thanks

Just to add I%26#39;ve just found the hotel Rouge which seems to get OK reviews at 拢80 ($140) less than the River Inn. Would this be a better bet?

My personal pick would be the Hotel Rouge, mostly in part due to its brand reputation - despite its mixed reviews at its opening, it has nowhere to go but up.

Did you check out the reviews on the other hotels here on TripAdvisor? Was there anything about those reviews that concerned or attracted you?

I would pick Hotel Rouge. It%26#39;s location is pretty good to Verizon Center. It%26#39;s probably the better hotel out of your choices. Metro Accessible.

Thanks very much - and it%26#39;s the cheapest too !
