Ford's Theatre and museum questions

I have been to the theater and the museum (is it still called the Lincoln Museum) twice. I really enjoyed it when I visited the first time in the 90%26#39;s. When we visited two years ago, it was chaotic and there were no tours of the presidential booth where Lincoln was seated at the time of the shooting.

I know things have changed with the new reopening. Can you tell me how it all works now? Don%26#39;t visitors need time tickets through the National Parks Service? Do you have to have that even to go into the basement museum? Will we be able to go up and see the presidential booth if we have time-tickets?

Any other information to know? Thanks a lot!

The museum has not reopened. It is still being renovated. No date has been set, but it should be within the next 3 months. http://www.nps.gov/foth/

Ford's Theatre and museum questions

Darrell,

I am confused...So the big reopening I saw on TV with President Obama was just for the theater portion?

Well, three months from now is ok...we will not be there until June 19-24. So, where is this suit of President Lincoln%26#39;s being displayed? It%26#39;s the one he was shot in...I just read where someone was saying it is there and only on display for short periods of time because it%26#39;s so fragile.

The reopening you saw was only for the theater.

I have not paid attention to the business with the suit. You can probably find out with a quick Google search. http://www.google.com I believe it was on display at the newly opened Museum of American History.

For more info on the ticket system for tours of Ford%26#39;s Theatre and the Petersen House, go to www.fordstheatre.org If you want to pre-order tickets for the tour (which might be advisable during the busy summer season), there is a link on that site to Ticketmaster.
