I have looked at the metro and Amtrak, not sure which is the best way to go. I need to be to bwi at 10 am on a Thurs.

If you have to catch a flight, take a cab. Otherwise, you can take the Metro to Union Station and take a MARC or Amtrak train to the BWI station and the free airport shuttle from there.
