last day with luggage - where to go

Greetings

We are a family of 4 (kids 10/11 yrs) and will be visiting DC in April for 4 days.We are renting a condo and need to be out by 11 am and can%26#39;t leave our luggage behind. We will be departing DC on Weds around 6:00 pm from DCA. We are going to limit luggage to 3 small with wheels.

I am wondering what places we can visit our last day that are luggage friendly. We will have hit a lot of the popular places our 1st 3 days. I am thinking of the zoo or one of the museums might be a good option. Are there lockers for storage or strollers to rent to carry the baggage? Do any of the tour buses allow luggage? Any hotels allow storage for a fee?

Thanks!

Most of the Smithsonian Institutions museums have a baggage check section, since it is almost impossible to bring any kind of bag in. I shouldn%26#39;t think they%26#39;d mind you checking-in your bags, since almost everything else has to be checked.

Union Station has a luggage check service. That might be your best bet. You could then grab a cab to DCA from the queue in front of the station, saving you from dragging them from museum to museum.

Thanks for the response. I just called Union Station and it is $40 for 2-3 bags any size for 5 hours or more. Below 5hrs is an hourly rate.

Given how easy it is to get too and from DCA, what about heading to the airport after you leave your condo, checking in for your flight and checking your bags, and then getting back on the Metro for sight seeing? My guess is the bag check fee (if any) will be about the same as what you%26#39;d pay at Union Station, but you won%26#39;t need to worry about heading into the station twice with your bags.

Check with the airline, many won%26#39;t allow bags to be checked until either 4 or 6 hours before departure.

What I would suggest is stopping into a hotel convenient to your condo sometime during your stay, see if they%26#39;ll let a non-guest check bags for a few hours. Of course mentioning that you%26#39;ll tip well might help. :)

That way, you%26#39;ll have it as an option. Or not...:)
