Which hotel would you reccommend? It will be 2 adults and 2 teens. We are flying into Reagan and will be staying for 4 nights. We plan to rent a car one day and drive to Mount Vernon and then one day we have a service to attend at Arlington Cemetery. I had been leaning toward Embassy Suites for the room and while it does have a sofabed the beds are just double. HGI has queens and I%26#39;ve been thinking the area might be nicer. The prices are very close but ES does include breakfast. Thanks!
Hilton Garden Inn Arlington or Embassy Suites Crystal City?
My two cents.... You have two good choices here and depends on your preferences.
Embassy Suites Crystal City (ES CC)
In the Crystal City part of Arlington. 2 1/2 block easy walk to Metro, but there is a free shuttle to and from Metro, 23rd Street, and National Airport. LOTS of restaurants within walking distance on 23rd Street, Crystal Drive, and Pentagon Row. Pool albeit quite small. Free breakfast which has something hot like made to order waffles or omelets. There is also a manager%26#39;s reception each night (I THINK the hours are around 5 - 7)and has drinks and snacks.
Once on Metro it is 8 mins to L%26#39;Enfant Plaza (Air and Space and American Indian) and 13 minutes to Smithsonian stop.

Hilton Garden Inn (HGI)
HGI is in the Courthouse part of Arlington. Also around a 3 blocks walk to metro. Once on Metro Smithsonian - 12 mins and L%26#39;Enfant Plaza - 14 mins. It is a little further out than Crystal City, but is still an easy ride into DC. There are plenty of restaurants nearby too.

To me with free breakfast for a family of four makes a big difference. Do factor in the day or two of parking into your plans since you are renting a car.
Hope this helps!!
Hilton Garden Inn Arlington or Embassy Suites Crystal City?
Thanks so much. You%26#39;ve really helped because I was thinking that the HGI would be a little closer.
We stayed at this ES 3 summers ago with our 3 teens. WE really liked that it was so close to the shoppping mall that has the metro under it and the hotel shuttle ran I think every half hour, so that was very convenient. The subway ride was(to Me) part of the experience of DC. Hotel was nice, liked the usual braekfast and happy hour.Short ride to all the DC places.WE also flew into Reagan and got the ES shuttle to pick us up. We rented a car the last day as we were driving to virginia that week, but you might want to plan your day trip so that you will use the car and only park it one day, as parking at hotel was expensive, but all hotels in DC are. Also to save some money, we would eat at the food cout at that shopping mall before we got on subway. Usual mall food court, but just what we needed.Anyways, You will have a wonderful time. We want to go back so badly, as 3 days did not goive us nearly enough time. One more thing that we did not know before we went. Almost all the atttreactions in DC are free, if they are along the mall,Smithsonians, museums zoo, etc. Imagine we are walking to the zoo and there was not entrance to buy tickets. You just go in. Fabulous.....
