We%26#39;ve are trying to plan a trip to Washington DC as a finale field trip to our study of American History this year. We would like to go at the end of April/beginning of May since we will be finishing school around then. I don%26#39;t want to have to drive in DC so I want to just be able to get the Metro from close to our hotel. Someone had suggested we stay outside of the city and metro in for the museums and this would save on hotel rates? The kids would like a hotel with a pool. Our total budget is about $1000 so not too much to work with but after looking at some rates online, it should get us a few days down there.

How much do you want to spend per night? If you go to Orbitz, you can search by amenities and select pool.
Check Rossyln and Crystal City for outside if DC but close.

I%26#39;m not sure how long the rate is good for, but we booked the Marriott Residence Inn/Capitol Hill for 3 nights over a weekend and the rate for a 1 bedroom suite with breakfast is $125 a night. It is a AAA special. It is not available at all during the week. Not sure if this will help you or not. I booked it direct throught marriott.com. Good luck!
