What airport should I fly into?

I will be vacationing in DC in October. Does anyone have any suggestions on which airport to use. We don%26#39;t have a room booked yet so we are flexible. We are not renting a car and will be using the metro.

WELL THE METRO stops at Regan-- dca airport --- if you fly into dulles or bwi you would have to take a cab to get to dc fyi Regan is in Arlington va not dc when you are searching

My vote is National. You can take the Metro right from the airport and it%26#39;s EASY. If you go to Dulles or Baltimore, the fares can be sometimes cheaper, but you%26#39;ll spend more time (and $) going back and forth. There used to be some good flights from Phoenix to National, so from AZ, you might be set. It%26#39;s amazing to fly in, too, because you fly right over the Potomac and can see the Wash Monument and all the other sites as you approach. Worth getting a window seat. Also, take the Gray Line - Washington DC at night tour. You start when it%26#39;s light out, but then as it gets dark, you get to see all the monuments with dramatic lighting and it includes several stops. (Lincoln, Viet Nam, WWII, Korea, FDR - sometimes stops vary, but it%26#39;s a great tour)

You can get direct flights out of Phoenix so that wuld be the best choice. Price wise, that may be your deciding factor. My neighbors fly to Phoenix several times a year and they have never found a good deal out of National. Dulles or BWI usually has the best prices. If price is no object or you find a great deal then National would be the best choice. Followed by Dulles then BWI. BWI and Dulles would be a toss up, but I think Dulles has better transportaion.
