Questioning hotel choice...

I currently have reservations for my family of four(children 8 %26amp; 13) to stay at the Melrose Hotel, for a week in Nov. Since reviewing the hotel some time back, I believe it has moved down considerably, on the popularity list. The Embassy Suites on 22nd St. has caught my interest...seems to be quite a hit for families. My main concern is the location to the metro. It%26#39;s closer to the Dupont circle station but a little further from the Foggy Bottom station. I already had concerns about the Melrose%26#39;s location to the metro... will I be making a big mistake if I switch hotels? Is the Embassy Suite Hotel worth the extra walking? Please tell me if I%26#39;m over analyzing the walking thing... we%26#39;re not lazy... I%26#39;ve just read about how much walking is done on a D.C. trip, and would rather not waste time and energy hiking any further than necessary, to and from the metro.

Questioning hotel choice...

If you got a great deal at the Melrose, I%26#39;d probably stick with it. What kind of rates are you getting at the Embassy Suites? If they%26#39;re comparable to the Melrose, then I%26#39;d switch. It%26#39;s hard to say about walking from the metro. Maybe if you get a good deal at the Embassy Suites you could consider taking the occasional cab ride at the end of the day. Or consider that there are several options for dinner near the Dupont Circle metro so if you get off there and walk back to your hotel, you%26#39;ll have a break during the walk. Good luck with your decision!

Questioning hotel choice...

I have stayed numerous times at the Embassy Suites DC at 1250 22nd St NW. The hotel is at most a ten minute walk to the Foggy Bottom/GWU Metro station.

I personally think the Embassy Suites is worth the extra walk. This is because the hotel offers an indoor garden atrium, free breakfast and evening reception along with newly renovated suites. The hotel also has a heated indoor pool, whirlpool, etc. If you go to the Embassy Suites Hotel Washington, D.C. page on Tripadvisor and click on ';Candid Photos'; there are many photos showing how the hotel looks as well.

Hope this helps.

With the children, I would go with the Embassy Suites. As the previous post stated, it is a little further walk to metro but walking DC streets is a little different than other places.

-Also, ES is close to Dupont Circle and Georgetown. Shopping and Dining everywhere.

You might be over analyzing the walk to metro. Most people in DC will walk either from home or from work to a metro station and can take anywhere from 1 minute - 10 minutes walking. 10 minutes goes by so fast you won%26#39;t even realize that it took that long. I would say that ES is closer to Dupont Circle. It%26#39;s up hill however. I used to work at 1120 20 th street and would walk straight up to Dupont. But I also used to walk to Faragut North which is all flat street walking. I wouldn%26#39;t use Foggy Bottom if I stayed at the 22nd Street ES. You have to cross over too many busy intersections including Pennsylvania Avenue and that can be a nightmare.

Thanks for the info... we decided to switch our reservations to the Embassy Suites. We had calculated that it would be the same price as The Melrose. After contacting Expedia, we were pleased to find out that it will be about $100 less!!! Hooray! More fun money! Thanks again!!!
