Accomodotions for family of 4

Hi,

We are a homeschooling family of 4 (8 year old daughter and 11 year old son) that will be visiting DC from October 21-29. This will be our first trip to DC and we are really excited to see our nation%26#39;s capital. I%26#39;ve been researching where to stay and am struggling to get a handle on all the possibilities. I really need some advice to help narrow down our search.

Here is our criteria:

- easy access to public transportation

- in room kitchenette or at least refrigerator/microwave

- we will be driving and need to consider parking for our car

- we will be making a trip up to Baltimore during our stay so a northern suburb might be preferred

- target hotel price of $100-150 per night

Thank you.

Regards,

Greg

HI, GREG

The best deal I%26#39;m seeing for those dates which meets your criteria is the Homewood Suites in Alexandria, VA for $129/night; their accommodations offers a bedroom(with 1 or 2 beds which sleep 2) separate from the living room (which also has a sleep sofa) and a fully equpped kitchen, including cooktop, microwave %26amp; full-size fridge. The rate also includes free parking and free hot breakfast.

It%26#39;s not *the* most convenient location in terms of access to the Metro, but if you read the reviews here, you%26#39;ll see how to make it most manageable. Plus, since you%26#39;ll be here longer than many visitors, a bit more commuting time isn%26#39;t a serious handicap -- you%26#39;ll still have lots of time for exploration %26amp; sightseeing :-)

That rate (the cheapest I saw for the property) is avaiable on the chain%26#39;s own website:

Greenbelt, MD, might meet your needs - it%26#39;s close to the Green Line Metro, Interstate 95, and several of the hotels offer free parking, free breakfasts, and/or shuttles to the Metro.

There%26#39;s a Hilton Garden Inn, a Marriott Courtyard, a Marriott Residence Inn, and a Holiday Inn. Check out their reviews and prices on TripAdvisor and see if any of them fits the bill.

We just stayed at the Doubletree Suites in Georgetown (with our 2 small children) and were VERY happy with the location. 1 1/2 blocks to the Metro, walking distance to Georgetown and the Lincoln Memorial. Full kitchen, separate bedroom with a door to close, TV in the living room so our night didn%26#39;t have to end when our kids went to sleep. We got a rate of about $150ish with AAA discount but did have to pay $25 to park which seems to be typical in DC.

I%26#39;d be surprised if you can find such a good rate (as littlegrrl) for a downtown hotel in October, but please post back to report if you do.

You may want to consider the Holiday Inn Washington-Bethesda for $119/night with AAA. I couldn%26#39;t find reviews of it on TA for some reason, but I was able to find it on the HI website.

Hi - we are also a family of four (formerly homeschoolers ourselves) that are heading to DC to visit a daughter and son-inlaw doing an internship in the Senate. We are looking for a place to stay also. I checked the Homewood Suites website and the cheapest rate I could find was $195.00. Were you able to get a better deal, and if not, what have you found. We won%26#39;t have a car, so need to be close to the metro ourselves.

Thanks for any info!
