Hotel Near IAD (possibly that takes AAA)?

My husband and I will be staying in DC over Thanksgiving, but because of ticket pricing we had to stay in DC one more night than expected. We need to make a morning flight (I think around 8 am). We can either spent $126.00 (total, including tax) for another night at the hotel near the Capital/Union Station that we%26#39;re already staying at for the rest of our trip, or we can move to a hotel near IAD for the last night of our trip to make the morning commute easier.

Any recommendations for a clean hotel (doesn%26#39;t have to be anything fancy as we probably won%26#39;t get there until late and are leaving early) near or next to IAD (with shuttle service or within walking or cheap taxi distance) that would make it worth our while to switch hotels for the last night?

I wouldn%26#39;t want to spend more than $130 total (incl. taxes and other fees). However, spending a little more might be worth it if the morning commute would be a huge hassle and/or expensive because of taxis or a metro that doesn%26#39;t open until later. We probably have to be at IAD around 6 am (or earlier?) and I don%26#39;t know how long the metro takes from Union Station to L%26#39;Enfant and then the bus from there to IAD, or when it starts operating.

Finally, how is the Capitol City Brewing Co.? My brother seems interested. Is it better/worse/similar to the Chophouse?

Thanks!

A lot depends on what night of the week your ';extra'; night is. Most hotels near Dulles will be well within your price range until Sunday night, when weekday rates kick in. But you will want to pick the Dulles area rather than downtown under any circumstances for this last night given the time of day, hassle and additional transportation costs involved.

Being local, I haven%26#39;t had occasion to stay at any of the hotels near Dulles, but I%26#39;d start with the Marriott website--use Herndon, VA as your search location--which has lots of properties in the area (and AAA rates).

District Chophouse and Capital City Brewing are fairly similar with casual menus loaded with sandwiches and salads. Chophouse also has a lot of steaks and pricier entrees ($25-$30) on the menu. If you don%26#39;t opt for these, you can easily get out of either for $20 a head including a drink, tax and tip.

I agree - just head out to the airport and sleep at a conveniently located hotel. I think the best way to look for a place is using the Trip Advisor Hotel search for Herndon, VA. I did a quick search for 11/26 and found a rate of $93 at the Comfort Inn, which gets good reviews. As Tubman said, the rates will likely change for weekday travel. Once you narrow down the list of affordable options, you can look around for the best deal (by going to individual hotel websites or through a general booking site like Hotels.com).

As for Cap City Brewing, I%26#39;ve been to the one in Arlington. They have typical wings, salads, burgers, etc. The food is pretty good, as are the beers. They%26#39;re usually playing a variety of sports on some big screen tvs as well. I think the Chophouse is considered a bit nicer than Cap City, but I haven%26#39;t been to the Chophouse so I can%26#39;t compare.

There is a full service Marriott right next to the airport with free shuttle service to the airport. As previously mentioned, the cost will depend on the day of the week but you can check it out online at their web site. They also give you something like 5% off with AAA.

I%26#39;ve been to the Capital City Brewing Co in Arlington and all I can say is that it is loud. It was very difficult to hear anyone at our table. The food and service are standard.

Thank you so much everyone! We booked at the Comfort Inn, and they had an internet rate of only $76!
