Help... Dulles or Reagan airport???

Never been to DC, coming in for a wedding in Bethesda. Which airport easiest or best to fly in and out of for a weekend? Will probably be taking taxi from airport to hotel in Bethesda. Appreciate any insight.

Help... Dulles or Reagan airport???

Bethesda is just north west of DC.

For weekend flying, I would say that Reagan is easier. Also the distance from both airports to Bethesda (Depending on location) is about 30 minutes for both. Maybe about 35 from Dulles and a just under 30 for Reagan.

Hope that helps, did you have any other questions?

Help... Dulles or Reagan airport???

Reagan is a much easier airport. Of course, the lines can be long at both airports, but Dulles tends to be much worse. I%26#39;d definitely go with Reagan unless there%26#39;s a significant ticket price difference.

It would be insane to fly into Dulles. Really, really insane. DULLES NOWHERE NEAR BETHESDA and will take AT LEAST an hour OR AND HOUR AND A HALF through hellish VA.

Go into National (Reagan) and take the metro to bethesda or, if you must, a cab. It%26#39;ll be a 25-30 minute drive from the airport.

Thank you for the quick replys, Reagan it will be. Don%26#39;t know what hotel I am staying at yet, waiting to be told by the wedding planners. Wedding is at the Congressional Country Club, I assume we will be staying near by.

I flew back home into Dulles (on an international flight) a few Fridays ago and it took me 1.5 hours to go 10 miles. Granted I was going away from DC during rush hour, but just to give you an idea how terrible the traffic is.

National (DCA) is usually a little more expensive but it is well worth it. You can also take the metro (Red Line) and lessen you cab fair if money is a little tight. Metro is right next to the airport and very convenient.

I think you%26#39;re going a bit overboard. Dulles to Bethesda isn%26#39;t that bad. Yes, rush hour would take a while and I agree that Reagan is preferred, but depending on what times the flights are on a weekend, the travel time could be doable for the right plane fare. It just depends whether your budget or your time is more valuable.

We are flying Thanksgiving weekend, either Fri-Sun or possibly Sat. am - Sun. Airfare is with in $75 of each other for both airports with Reagan being a bit higher. While we don%26#39;t like to throw money away, money is not so tight that we can%26#39;t cab it. Just don%26#39;t want the hassle of renting a car. Again, appreciate all the insights, very helpful to a rookie.

Thanksgiving weekend?! Okay - definitely Reagan!

It also depends on the convenience of flights. You didn%26#39;t indicate where in Michigan you are, which could mean the difference between a non-stop and an out-of-the-way transfer in Charlotte, Atlanta, NYC, or St Louis!

I would agree with mopsydog, Reagan is the better choice but you would be OK from Dulles too. I use Dulles more because of proximity but I like Reagan better. Security at Dulles can be a huge pain depending on your flight times. Enjoy the District!
