Im am in washington on the 21 october. I would like to vist the national catherdal on a sunday and then get a taxi from there to visit arlington cemetery. Can anyone tell me if it is easy to get a cab there on a sunday. Also I am in the uk and would like to pre book our tickets for the washington monument, does anyone no if i order now would i get the tickets in time.
Getting a taxi
Depends on the time of morning.
The Cathedral usually has taxis just sitting there where the tour buses are. You will see them. Also, if you don%26#39;t see them, just call one of the many cab companies and they will send one your way. Usually they are there in little or no time.
I suggest ';reserving'; your tickets online before you go. There is a small fee for this service eventhough it%26#39;s free to get into the monument. They don%26#39;t deliver the tickets to you, there is a ';will Call'; box window at the kiosk where the tickets are purchased. This saves a lot of time. Oct. 21 is a Saturday so there will be more crowds.
Getting a taxi
Thank you very much for the information, I was hoping to visit the monument monday or tuesday when the crowds would b less
Actually sometimes the crowds are more during the week simply because you have the workers and the tourists. I have gone downtown on a Saturday with the family and there weren%26#39;t too many people. But at places that have a waiting time like the monument those places are usually more crowded on the weekend.
Have Fun. The Cathedral is a nice place.
Actually, the Wash Monument website states that if you make your reservation more than 10 days in advance, the tickets will be mailed to you. To avoid that, you may just want to wait until 10 days or less before your trip to make your booking. If you%26#39;re reserving for a Monday or Tuesday, I%26#39;d be surprised if the tickets were already sold out 10 days prior to your travel (considering the time of year)... although I guess it is possible...
