I am trying to plan a last minute trip to DC in the next 2 weeks. I need to know the best hotel. I would like to spend less than $200 a night in a very nice hotel with very close access to the metro. Any recomendations on hotel and location??
Thanks!!!
first time to DCI live here so haven%26#39;t stayed in many hotels but... Any of the Kimptom properties (http://www.kimptondchotels.com/) would be phenomenal if you can find a room in your price range. The Monaco is really close to the mall, though if you stay in this one make sure you are not on the ground floor, which can be musty as it is partly underground. The Grand Hyatt downtown is also lovely.
If you%26#39;re willing to cross the river, Crystal City is a major hotel hotspot. DC has height restrictions on buildings, so just over the line in Virginia is where the big (and slightly cheaper) hotels live. It%26#39;s on the metro and no further from the Mall than Dupont Circle and certainly closer than Friendship Heights. I haven%26#39;t stayed in any of the hotels there, but they have all the major brands to choose from.
first time to DCHoliday Inn Capitol, 550 C Street SW. Not luxurious, but close to both Metro and the museums of the National Mall. You%26#39;ll want to use Metro to go elsewhere for dinner (the neighborhood is a snoozer), but it%26#39;s a fine, affordable choice.
We just got back from a 3 night stay at the Marriott Wardman Park. The Woodley Park/Adams Morgan Metro stop (Red line) was right by the property. We used points for the stay but I think the rate was $159 on the Marriott website. We were also considering the Hilton Garden Inn which I believe is across the street from the McPherson Sq Metro stop. It was very reasonably priced as well - $109 I believe on the Hilton website.
