I%26#39;m driving up to DC from Richmond and plan on taking the Metro into the city from the Franconia-Springfield station. Does anybody know if the parking lot gets full there during the week? Is there any other parking available near that station? Any other suggestions as to what station to park at?
Best Metro Station to Park
That is the closest station when driving from Richmond straight from 95. As most metro parking lots in the area, you will have to get there no later than 7:00 am - 7:30 pm. Monday%26#39;s and Friday%26#39;s are the better days as a lot of workers especially government workers and others who have A.W.S. days are off.
-Also, to pay for metro parking you must have a SMART TRIP CARD. which can be purchased at the station for $5.00. There are also some metered parking spaces $.25 p/45 minutes 12 hour max time frame however. $3.75
-Van Dorn Street is right off of 95 as well. Parking there too. Not as much as Springfield. This is in Alexandria, VA. $3.75
There are other stations but none that are directly off of 95 in VA that are that close to the beltway.
-Other options, drive directly into DC and find a parking garage and pay anywhere from $8.00-$15.00 for all day parking. If you don%26#39;t know the DC area that well this isn%26#39;t a good option.
Best Metro Station to Park
Another option is the Pentagon City Metro Station if you want to avoid the metro lots. Its right off 395, and also has the benefit of amazing shopping and food!
I park there from time to time. I get there at 8am and park on the top deck. They have an over flow lot at the mall. Also, you can park in the reserved spots after 10am. Another option is to stop at Fredericksburg and take the VRE.
