The River Inn

Hiya,

Quality, price and convenience (tRed line Metro to Brookland/CUA) are most important for our DC visit%26#39;s. We stayed at The Phoenix Park (liked it) on the first visit and this weekend at The River Inn becuase the deal was better.

Question... what other interesting hotels or B%26amp;B%26#39;s would you recommend that are on the Red Line and located in interesting neighborhoods ?

Thanks alot,

Chill,

The River Inn

The River Inn isn%26#39;t on the Red Line. It%26#39;s on the Orange/Blue Line. However with the metro system being so convenient you would just transfer at Metro Center and then take the Red Line toward Silver Spring or Glenmont. This process only takes a few minutes and a quick walk upstairs and the train will probably be there or on its way.

Interesting neighborhoods on the Red Line would be:

-Dupont Circle,

-Woodley Park/Zoo

-Union Station (you stayed at the Phoenix Park before).

Because all of the train stations are connected by a just 1 or 2 transferring points, you can almost stay anywhere you want and it isn%26#39;t inconvenient to stay off of the Red Line.

You could stay in the heart of Downtown on the Red Line

-Metro Center area

-Gallery Place Chinatown/Verizon Center (formerly MCI Center)

Unless you wanted to stay further out in like Bethesda area on the red line, going in the opposite direction near Brookland and further out aren%26#39;t such nice areas.

What is your exact budget p/night for the room and your dates? This can help in narrowing down the search for hotels.

Thanks MM,

Great info !

I%26#39;m paying $150 %26amp; $160 for Sat/Sun. would like to do better but fear that I%26#39;ll suffer a quality drop off if I spent much less.

Perhaps when more acclimmated, I can stay further away for a lesser price.

Any suggestions on the Metro (I grew up taking subways) within 25 minutes of Brookland/CUA.

Thanks again MM

I don%26#39;t know if I%26#39;d call it interesting, but Jurys Washington Hotel gets good reviews right at Dupont Circle. If you prefer a smaller hotel (with less amenities, but in a nice neighborhood), you could try the Jurys Normandy Hotel. It%26#39;s about equi-distant from Dupont Circle and Woodley Park Metros. There%26#39;s also the Woodley Park Guest House if you prefer a B%26amp;B. I%26#39;ve heard good things about it. The American Guesthouse also between Dupont and Woodley also gets good reviews and might be worth a try.

As for price, it really depends on the date of your visits. You can get $99/night at Jurys Washington sometimes, and other times you can%26#39;t do better than $299/night...

Thanks MD,

Yeah, I check for on-line specials all the time and I had Jury%26#39;s on my radar. I%26#39;ve found that many places have specials, sometimes they don%26#39;t and in the future, I%26#39;ll try to manage my visits around a deal.

Check out the Tabard Inn near Dupont Circle. It%26#39;s funky and not too expensive.
