Restaurants for Group Bookings

I%26#39;m bringing a group of 50 (17-18 year old) students from England to Washington in February 07. I%26#39;m looking for locations where I can get group bookings for evening meals for a group of this size. We are staying close to the centre and the group would need to be able to walk. We%26#39;re in town for three evenings, I%26#39;d thought ESPNZone would be a possibility for one evening, but other ideas would be really useful

Restaurants for Group Bookings

Honestly with the ages of the students ESPNZone would be your best bet. It%26#39;s a little difficult to seat 50 teenagers in one of the restaurants downtown. It may feel a little ';Stuffy'; for some of them. I guess it just depends on what they are used to. If they don%26#39;t have an issue with it, read below for some restaurants in that area.

If you are staying near the ESPNZone (Metro Center, Verizon Center area) there are a few choices that you may want to look into. Also, another suggestion is to split the group in half or depending on how many adults you have maybe even split them into 3 groups.

-Ruby Tuesday%26#39;s is across the street from the Verizon Center on 7th Street. www.rubytuesdays.com It%26#39;s very small in there so you would have to split the group up in half or thirds.

Nothing fancy at all. They have burgers, fries, salads, pasta dishes, salad bar is good and if you get there about 1 hour before you need to eat, they might let you reserve one whole section in the restaurant. Just call ahead.

-Hard Rock Cafe www.hardrockcafe.com. It%26#39;s on E Street next to the Lincoln Theatre. They might enjoy the atmoshphere.

If you want fancier places for a nice relaxed sit down dinner:

-Clydes www.clydes.com American dishes some seafood, salads, steaks, pasta, etc.etc. Pretty good as well. They could accommodate the entire group of 50, you would have to call and make the reservation ahead of time (like a few weeks or so)

I agree with MrsMaryland%26#39;s suggestions. Another place that may accommodate such a large group is Austin Grill (Tex Mex) at 7th and E streets, NW. As MrsMaryland said, you%26#39;ll definitely want to call or email ahead to reserve. No restaurant will be able to seat a rush of 50 people at once. www.austingrill.com (location is ';The Lansburgh';)

Otherwise, you may want to see if a place like Tony Cheng%26#39;s Mongolian BBQ can accommodate you. They have a private room, but I don%26#39;t know how many people it seats - Phone: 202-371-8669

Bon appetit!

Capitol City Brewery on 11th and H might be able to do it. They have a private room upstairs that might fit you all.

Not sure, but you might try to Buca di Peppo on Conn. and Florida Ave (just above Dupont Circle). That is affordable if they have a big room or can split your party up a little. www.bucadibeppo.com. You would probably have to metro. If you can figure out the metro in London, then DC is a piece of cake.

If the weather is nice, you could run them through the Five Guys at 9th and H St. Burgers and fries and you could eat on the sidewalk or the courtyard on 8th and H. Longshot and may not be your idea of dinner, but just trying to give you some options. The place is packed for lunch but I bet that if there isn%26#39;t an event at the Verizon Center, then you would be mostly alone.

I like the Mongolian BBQ idea as well. They usually have a big room or can take large parties with enough notice.

Good luck
