Planning a stay in Washington DC end of July 2007. Have decided to stay at the Madison Hotel or Mandarin Oriental. I know that the Madison is a better central location but is there any advice regarding the physical facilities (eg.older hotel, Madison vs newer construction, Mandarin) such as noisy air conditioning, shower temp and pressure, street noise etc? Any thoughts?
Madison vs Mandarin Hotel
Mandarin actually isn%26#39;t all that bad of a location. Yeah, there are many restaurants but it%26#39;s at the end of the mall area but near a lot of Government buildings. Near the Holocaust and Bureau of Engraving and L%26#39;Enfant Plaza and Smithsonian Metro Station.
Mandarin is newer. The Madison is older but more traditional looking and the Mandarin is modern. The Mandarin faces 395 which connects SE/SW DC to Virginia. I never heard any noise from the traffic out there but the view depending on which side of the hotel you have is pretty nice.
Madison is walking distance to a lot. Just check out the reviews and compare the pros and cons from this site.
If you are alone, I would go with the Mandarin. If you are with a partner or children probably the Madison just because of the walking distance to the mall area.
