We are flying into La Vegas via Dulles next August. As uk citizens ,we are requiured to clear customs at this point of entry before going on to Las Vegas.
How long will this take us?
United airlines are leaving just one or two hours between connections; is this realistic
Thanks
Dulles flights connections
Which is it - one hour or two hours? If it%26#39;s one hour, it will likely be cutting it too close. If it%26#39;s two hours, you%26#39;ll probably be okay.
Dulles flights connections
The connection options vary;
but will two hours be enough to return to terminal, clear immigration, collect bags, check in and get back to next departure gate,
thanks
Really, there%26#39;s no way of telling. Dulles is notorious for havnig long Customs delays. My own experience has been that it takes 60-90 minutes, but I%26#39;m not connecting when I arrive so it hasn%26#39;t been an issue.
What kind of options do you have? Check United%26#39;s schedule to see what kind of frequency they have on their Dulles-Las Vegas flights in case you miss your flight.
(If I%26#39;m reading correctly you%26#39;ve already booked so no point in recommending other airline options, correct?)
I just flew into Dulles this week on a domestic flight. We landed at 3:30 and our luggage was not on the carousel until 5:15. Plus, it took about 30 minutes to get from our gate to baggage claim. I%26#39;ve never been to a more unorganized airport. I really appreciate flying through Chicago and New York now. The frequent flyers waiting with us just threw up their hands and said the delay was no surprise to them. Wow, I was surprised at how calm everyone stayed under the circumstances. It was a very unpleasant experience, especially since I was travelling with my three children!
You will be fine. The horror stories you hear are from people that their final destination is Dulles. You are connecting so you will go through customs at the mid field terminal, not the main terminal. Make sure you go to the right one! The mid field terminal is for connecting flights. It is very quick because they know you need to recheck your bags for connecting flights.
Well...maybe.
Someone just sent a letter to the Washington Post that was published last weekend. You can see it here:

Bottom line was it sounded pretty chaotic, and their final destination was not Dulles, they were connecting.
