Time of year?

We have discovered a nice gated campground just on teh edge of Washington D.C.

Since we dont go anywhere we cannot tent camp I am excited to get to visit Washigton D.C. Next year for the first time. We are staying for a long perdiod about 12 days in order to see everything.

My question is in the spring when is the perfect time to tent camp and visit d.c.? Not too hot not to cold?

Time of year?

My suggestion would be end of April, beginning of May.

Time of year?

Agree with end of April beginning of May.

The end of April/beginning of May can still be a little chilly in DC. I would recommend end of May if you can wait that long.

Chasm4u: What do you consider cold weather for camping out. DC weather is so funny that you will never know until you get here. The end of May can be cold as well. I know that on Memorial Day the local pools always open and this year was probably the first in a long time that actually had outdoor pool conditions (78-80 temps). But then in past years it was raining and cold (around mid 60%26#39;s)

April-May can be our rainy season (May probably has the most rain in DC) but then it might not be, we have had droughts during this time as well. At night will still be cold in May as is in April. The night time doesn%26#39;t stay warm until sometime in middle June-end of August when at night it can be humid and still around 70-75 degrees outside.

Also, the average night temps in DC for April - May is around 50 degrees.

Good camping weather to me is not below 65 and not above 80.

Tents hold heat and at night if you camp in dead summer its like a oven with the whole days heat still inside.

Thanks for your suggestions.

Average temps in April--between 46 and 66. Average temps in May--56 to 76.

Chatanooga weather isn%26#39;t a whole lot different than DC. Whatever you consider good weather there for camping would be about the same here.

Great thanks.

early may should be fine then.
