Thanksgiving Dinner

Can anyone suggest a restaurant for Thanksgiving in the DC area?

If you are looking for traditional with a twist:

-Georgia Browns- southern classics with a northern twist

-Vidalia- Southern but more modern

Keep an eye on The Washington Post as Thanksgiving nears, especially look at the ';Weekend'; section which appears in Friday%26#39;s paper. There you will find restaurants advertising their Thanksgiving hours and menus.

For an authentic Thanksgiving experience, in an unbeatable setting, you might wish to consider the Mount Vernon Inn. Mount Vernon is the home of George Washington. The food is excellent at the Inn (I%26#39;ve never eaten there, but I%26#39;ve only seen positive reviews), and the staff are dressed in period costumes.

And yes, both Mount Vernon and the Metro lines are open on Thanksgiving! I don%26#39;t know how busy they are--you%26#39;ll want to find out about reservations/waiting time.

You can catch the Metro Yellow Line down to Huntington Station (end of the line), then transfer to one of the ';150'; buses for the scenic drive over to Mount Vernon.

I just read there%26#39;s a riverboat cruise that will take you to Mount Vernon, as an alternative to taking the metro:

If you want a vegetarian Thanksgiving Feast, we always get food from Yuan Fu in Rockville for the holiday and bring it along to the traditional dinner my parents have. They are open all day as well. Just putting it out there :(

In the past, I%26#39;ve had trouble finding a place to eat on Thanksgiving. You can try a hotel restaurant in a pinch. Also, most places serve limited menus, so check with what they%26#39;re serving prior to making reservations (and I would book ASAP since places fill quickly). I went to Mrs. K%26#39;s in Silver Spring for one Thanksgiving and had a really good meal. I%26#39;ve struck out downtown quite a few times during the holidays.
