Recommended hotels for DC in December?

My girlfriend and I are planning a leisure visit to DC in early December for a few days. What recommendations are there for good hotels that are nearby the popular attractions? Pricing between $100-$175 a night is ok. Any help is appreciated.

At that price range in DC in December might be a little tough. You may have to go out in the surrounding areas of DC in Northern, VA or maybe Bethesda, MD which is a nice area and still metro accessbile. Also those areas, have their own restaurants and shopping that you could do there and just take metro to the mall area in DC for the monuments and museums.

-Try looking on Expedia, Priceline, Travelocity, etc. to see what type of rates they give you for DC and surrounding locations.

Pick about 5 hotels that interest you (and read the comments) and then put them on here and see what everyone else has to say. That would be easier for you and on the forum.

Actually, I%26#39;ve found that early December tends to be a good time to travel since it%26#39;s post-Thanksgiving and pre-Christmas, not alot of people are traveling during that time and you can get some decent rates. I did a quick search for Dec. 2-5 on Expedia. One of the best deals I saw was an avg. of $127 at the Hotel Washington, including breakfast. Of course, this will depend on your exact dates of stay. The hotel is well-located for visiting the popular tourist attractions. There are also several dining options close by.

The River Inn is offering a corporate suite for $167.20 (or you can get it for $165 on their website - but you%26#39;ll have to add taxes). This hotel is in Foggy Bottom. It%26#39;s a good location for evening due to proximity to Georgetown and Dupont Circle. There are also a few restaurants around Foggy Bottom. Foggy Bottom is walking distance to a few of the monuments/memorials. It would probably be a long, cold walk all the way the Smithsonian museums, but there is a metro stop right nearby.

Anyway, these are just a couple ideas. I%26#39;m sure if you look around, you%26#39;ll find some things. As MrsMaryland said, write back when you%26#39;ve narrowed down your choices and we can try to help more. Good luck!
