Guys,
I%26#39;d like to know from you wich hotel should I book to stay one night in DC (feb, 14). I had booked Harrington, but, due to its reviews, I%26#39;ll cancel it.
So, here are my new options:
Holiday Inn - Central White House
Holiday Inn - Capitol
Could you tell me about their location (atractions, nightlife, restaurants, shop, metro).
You can also give me other options, U$ 200 max.
Thanks,
Luiz
Hotel in DCThe Holiday Inn Capitol gets very good reviews here on TA. However, it is in an area that%26#39;s dead at night--lots of offices in the area. Thus, most of the nearby restaurants are only open Monday through Friday for breakfast and lunch. The hotel itself has restaurants that are open for dinner. However, you are right by the L%26#39;Enfant Plaza Metro station and an easy walk to the American Indian Museum and the Air and Space Museum.
Hotel in DCThanks, SueFee!
How about the other Holiday Inn (Capitol) location? Is it better?
Could you give me other options (1 night, feb 14)? I wanted a place where I can have dinner by walking, in a safe area.
Thanks,
Luiz
You%26#39;re welcome. If you read the reviews posted here re: the Holiday Inn Central you will see that the reviewers say that the hotel is a good 7-10 minute walk to Metro and the White House. BTW, there are some good dining options near the White House. You could look into staying at Jurys Washington Hotel. It%26#39;s a 3 diamond property in Dupont Circle. Dupont Circle has a Metro station and many restaurants.
Here I am again, SueFee!
Hope you don%26#39;t mind to help me with other choices.
I found good rates at washingtondchotels.com for The River Inn, Georgetown Suites Harbour and ST. Gregory Hotel (both under U$200). I know St Gregory is the second on TA%26#39;s list, but I want to hear from you about their location. Wich one is more convinient for dinning and monuments?
As I mentioned before, I%26#39;ll be in DC for only one and a half day, the hotel location is very important.
Thanks again!
Hi, Luiz---In terms of being nearest to a Metro station, the River Inn is the closest--it%26#39;s a very short walk to the Foggy Bottom Station. The St. Gregory is also within walking distance to Foggy Bottom--just slightly farther away. Georgetown Suites is about 4 blocks west of The River Inn--still a doable walk to Foggy Bottom. The Georgetown Suites is the closest to dining options, however--there are many restaurants in Georgetown. So it%26#39;s up to you--it all depends on how close you want to be to Metro or whether or not you prefer to be closer to restaurants and have a bit further walk to Metro.
